What are the new rules of ration card?
The major rules that will come into effect from January 1, 2025 are as follows:
1. E-KYC mandatory
- All ration card holders will have to get their e-KYC done.
- The last date for e-KYC is 31 December 2024.
- Those who do not get e-KYC done, their ration card may be cancelled.
2. Change in income limit
- The annual income limit in urban areas will be up to Rs 3 lakh.
- In rural areas the annual income limit will be up to Rs 2 lakh.
3. Asset Limit
- Those having flats or houses larger than 100 square meters in urban areas will be ineligible.
- Those having a plot larger than 100 square meters in rural areas will be ineligible.
4. Vehicle Ownership
- Those owning four wheelers in urban areas will be ineligible.
- Those owning tractors or four-wheelers in rural areas will be ineligible.
5. Other criteria
- Those holding more than two weapon licenses will be ineligible.
- Those having air conditioners will be ineligible.
- Income tax payers will be ineligible.
