Indira Gandhi Smartphone Scheme: Rajasthan government has started a new scheme to empower the women of the state. The name of this scheme started to educate women digitally is Indira Gandhi Smartphone Scheme 2024. Under this scheme, free smartphones will be given to the women and daughters of Rajasthan.
New scheme started in Rajasthan
The scheme, announced during the Chief Minister’s budget, aims to provide smartphones with internet access to female heads of households. This scheme was started on August 10, 2023. The scheme aims to benefit girls from class 9th to 12th and college students as well as women from Chiranjeevi families. Eligible women and daughters of Rajasthan will be eligible to apply to receive free smartphones and avail the benefits of this program.
Women will be able to become self-reliant
Getting free phones under this scheme will help girls in online learning and girls coming to school from far away will feel safe with mobile access. This is absolutely the right decision considering their safety. Free internet will be provided with every phone for 3 years. The government will organize camps to distribute phones in a phased manner. With this, they will be able to take advantage of government schemes and manage their banking independently. Through free smartphones, women and students will be able to become self-reliant and empowered.
Required eligibility for the scheme
- To avail the benefit of free smartphone scheme, the applicant must be a native of Rajasthan state.
- Only women and girls of Rajasthan are eligible for this scheme.
- Under this scheme, benefits will be given to the female head of the Chiranjeev family.
- Girl students from class 9th to 12th and girls with college and higher education can get smartphones.
- Widows or single women taking pension and female heads of families who have completed 100 days of work under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme can also participate in this scheme.
